What contracts can an energy user purchase and how can they purchase them?

Energy users can purchase energy contracts via the suppliers' optimisation desks, with whom they have the supply agreement. The most common energy supply contracts are futures and forwards for the delivery period of seasons, quarters and months. These are the most liquid contracts and reflect a fair energy market price. In addition to these trading periods, energy users can purchase Balance of Month, Week Ahead, Day Ahead or even opt to take the market settlement price in more complex strategies.
