Who is amber energy?

amber energy is an independent energy consultancy and management company. We help organisations of all sizes take control of their energy use, reduce costs, and meet sustainability goals. Our work spans procurement, risk management, carbon reporting, and on-site generation advice. Unlike a utility or a broker tied to specific suppliers, we act on behalf of our clients, providing impartial guidance grounded in data and market insight.

We were founded on the belief that energy should be transparent, manageable, and fair. Over the years we have grown from a small advisory practice into a trusted partner for businesses across the UK and beyond. You can read more about our story on our About us page, or see how far we've come in 10 Years of amber energy.

What services do you offer?

Our core services fall into four main areas:

  • Energy Procurement: We negotiate and manage energy contracts across electricity, gas, and water. Our team analyses the market, runs competitive tenders, and secures terms that align with your budget and risk appetite.
  • Energy Management: We monitor consumption, identify inefficiencies, and help you implement changes that cut waste. This includes bill validation, tenant billing, and portfolio-level reporting.
  • Sustainability & Carbon: From carbon footprinting to net-zero roadmaps, we help you measure, report, and reduce emissions. We also advise on renewable energy sourcing and green certificates.
  • On-site Generation: We assess the feasibility of solar, battery storage, and other generation technologies, then manage the installation and ongoing optimisation.

Each engagement is tailored. Some clients need a full outsourced energy department; others want support on a single project. We are flexible, and our pricing reflects that.

How do you charge for your services?

Our fee structure depends on the scope of work. For procurement, we typically operate on a transparent commission or fixed-fee basis, agreed in advance. For consultancy projects, we quote a day rate or a project fee. There are no hidden costs, and we never take undisclosed payments from suppliers. This independence is central to our ethos — we work for you, not for the energy industry.

If you have a specific budget in mind, tell us. We will always be upfront about what is achievable and where you might need to prioritise. Many clients find that our fees are more than offset by the savings we deliver.

Who are your typical clients?

We work with a broad range of organisations: manufacturers, retailers, schools, hospitals, property managers, and public sector bodies. Our clients share a common need — they want to reduce energy cost and carbon, but lack the internal resource or market expertise to do it alone. Some have a single site; others have hundreds across multiple countries.

We are particularly proud of the long-term relationships we have built. Many clients have been with us for five, ten, or even fifteen years. That loyalty is a reflection of the results we deliver and the trust we earn. Our Our Awards page highlights some of the recognition we have received for client service and innovation.

"The best compliment we can receive is a client who stops worrying about energy and starts focusing on their core business. That's when we know we've done our job."

How do I get started with amber energy?

The first step is a conversation. Tell us about your organisation, your energy challenges, and your goals. We will then arrange a discovery call or meeting, either in person or virtually. During that session, we will ask questions, review any data you can share, and outline how we might help.

There is no obligation and no pressure. If we don't think we can add value, we will say so. If we can, we will propose a clear plan with timelines and costs. From there, you decide how to proceed. Many clients start with a simple energy audit or a procurement review before committing to a longer-term partnership.

What makes amber energy different from other consultants?

Three things set us apart. First, our independence. We are not owned by a supplier or a utility, and we do not take commissions from the companies we negotiate with. That means our advice is genuinely impartial. Second, our people. Our consultants come from backgrounds in energy trading, engineering, sustainability, and data science. They are not salespeople; they are problem-solvers. Third, our long-term view. We measure success not by a single transaction, but by the sustained performance of your energy portfolio over years.

We also invest heavily in our own technology and data capabilities. This allows us to spot trends, model scenarios, and provide insights that many smaller firms cannot. If you are considering a career with us, you can learn more on our Energy Management Careers page.

Do you work with residential customers?

No, amber energy focuses exclusively on business and public sector clients. We do not supply energy to homes or advise individual consumers. If you are a household looking for help with your energy bills, we recommend contacting your supplier directly or visiting a consumer advice service. Our expertise lies in the complexities of commercial energy — multi-site portfolios, half-hourly metering, complex tariffs, and corporate sustainability targets.

What is your approach to sustainability and net zero?

We believe that sustainability and commercial success go hand in hand. Our approach starts with measurement: you cannot manage what you do not measure. We help clients establish a robust carbon baseline, then identify reduction opportunities across energy efficiency, renewable procurement, and on-site generation. Finally, we support the implementation and ongoing reporting, ensuring that progress is real and verifiable.

We also practice what we preach. Our own operations are run with a focus on minimising environmental impact, and we report on our corporate responsibility commitments. Read more about this in our Our Corporate Commitment section.

How do you handle data privacy and security?

We take data protection seriously. All client information is stored securely, access is restricted to authorised personnel, and we comply with UK and EU data protection regulations. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. For full details, please see our Privacy & Cookies policy.

Can you help with energy crisis management?

Yes. When markets are volatile or a supplier fails, we step in to protect our clients. This includes securing emergency supply, renegotiating contracts, and managing risk exposure. We have guided clients through several market shocks, and our experience means we can act quickly and calmly. If you are currently facing an energy crisis, contact us immediately — the sooner we understand your situation, the more we can help.

What should I do if I have a complaint?

We aim to get things right first time, but if you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please tell us. We take all feedback seriously and will investigate promptly. You can contact your usual account manager or use the contact form on this page. We will acknowledge your complaint within two working days and aim to resolve it within ten. If we cannot resolve it to your satisfaction, we will explain your options for escalation.
